Four musicians with guitars and a drum on the open mic stage

Makarafoonka Furan

The open mic. The microphone is open to anyone with something to say: poetry, song, comedy, stories, spoken word, a first performance or a hundredth.

For many young people the open mic is their first step into Fankeenna. Some go on to join a workshop, show work in the gallery or appear on Shaah iyo Shaxan.
